New Technology Mini-Grant Award
The Montgomery City Public Library Receives
a $8,595 technology grant from the Missouri State Library
A $8,595.00 grant will help update technology and provide an improved service at the Montgomery City Public Library. This new grant will enable the library to purchase two desktop computers and three laptops for library use in addition to a smart television with a camera for video meetings in the MCPL Reference Room. This project is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services, under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, as administered by the Missouri State Library, a division of the Office of the Secretary of State.
MCPL Director Gaylee Harris expressed, “We appreciate the continued support from the Missouri State Library, IMLS, and LSTA, that help us purchase and update technology at MCPL. These devices will improve patron service and staff efficiency.”
The Montgomery City Public Library has a Technology Replacement Plan that recommends devices be replaced every four years to keep up-to-date with new technologies. Besides being time for replacement, the two main desk computers and the laptops were lagging on startup and in use. This grant enables the library to purchase replacements to help the librarians work more efficiently and have better customer service.
The library purchased a new 65-inch Sony Bravia smart television and specialty camera to improve the Reference Room. These will better address the needs of patrons, organizations, and staff who meet in the room. The television and camera will allow training and video conferencing on a large screen visible throughout the room and enable small groups to research and view documents online. If you or your small group would like to reserve the Reference Room, please call MCPL at 573-564-8022.
