Teen Programs and Online Resources

Teen Book Club

This book club especially for teens is held on the 3rd Monday of the month from 3:00-4:00 pm.  The teens take turns choosing a title for the group to read and then discuss at the next meeting.  

After Hours Teen Night 

This is for middle and high school students on the third Saturday of the month from 7-9 pm. Join us for an after-hours evening at the Library with computers, games, a movie, snacks, and hanging out with friends. Participants will need to stay the entire time unless a parent/guardian picks them up. All participants must be signed in and out by a parent/guardian. MCPL Behavior Policy will be enforced. 

Dungeons & Dragons

A teen's D&D group can play during the After Hours Teen Night.  *Contact Brian at the library if you're interested in participating. 

Lego Club 

This is on the second Saturday of the month from 10-11 am.  This creative time is for all ages.

Financial Literacy Button
The Rosen Financial Literacy database makes economics and personal finance easy to understand and highly engaging. Articles explore macro-, micro-, and global economics as well as personal and household finance.

Funk & Wagnalls Button
An online encyclopedia with articles and images about a variety of subjects. The listen feature enables you to have the computer read the encyclopedia entries out loud.

LearningExpress Library Button
Online practice tests for ESL and basic skills improvement in reading, writing and math. Also includes SAT, ACT Advanced Placement, HiSET, and other tests. Registration by the user is required for the software to record progress.

Read It Button
Resources for middle & high school students and adults who have a basic foundation in English grammar and reading to build background knowledge, conduct research, and improve study skills for a variety of subjects.

Teen Health and Wellness Button
This resource provides middle and high school students with up-to-date, nonjudgmental, self-help support. Topics covered include diseases, drugs, alcohol, nutrition, mental health, suicide, bullying, and LGBTQ+ information.

CK-12 Button
Free educational resources for students, parents, and teachers with customizable educational content for different student learning styles and levels. CK-12 offers concept-based information with adaptive practice and interactives to help students learn their way.

Khan Academy Button
Online instructional videos and practice exercises cover topics at grade levels K-14, including test preparation for SAT, LSAT, and more. Resources are now in more than 36 different languages, including Spanish, French, and Portuguese.

Purdue OWL Button
Resources to assist with writing projects include information on different citation styles, avoiding plagiarism, and how to write for different topics and levels of study. Includes support for writing English as a second language and resources for educators.

World Factbook Button
